Our Backyard

Good morning! Jim spotted this decorative copper sprinkler at Lowes. We fell in love with it and decided to buy it. At first, we were going to put it in the front yard. We wanted to test it. Jim hooked it up to the hose in the backyard so we could see how it would look. We like it so much that Jim is going to run the conduit for it and leave it where it is. We're going to buy another one (or maybe two) for the front yard.

We have climbing roses and ground cover roses in this garden. We planted the roses last spring. It will take awhile for them to get established.

What a fun looking sprinkler, it looks great in your garden. What types of roses do you have?

Thank you! We were really pleased with the sprinkler. Jim says that you can turn it on, sit down, watch it and get hypnotized by it.

Celeste, we have pink and white ground cover roses. I didn't even know there was such a thing until last spring when we got them. They haven't bloomed much yet, but they are starting to spread. We also have a climber called Joseph's Coat. It has multi-colored blooms of pink, yellow and peach. We have a pink climber and a bush called Burgundy Iceberg. Those are all in the garden area in the photos. On the other side of the yard, we have more roses. We both really like roses and they do well here, which really surprises me. I always imagined roses doing well in cooler climates.

Thanks, Vicki! We just put that garden in last spring. Jim and I were trying to make ourselves feel better after having some trees cut down in preparation for installing a solar energy system. It broke my heart. I loved the trees, but we really think solar is the way to go here in the desert. We had to get rid of the shade on that side of the house.

Your garden sounds like a little big of heaven.
I have just arrived in Madrid, after 2 months in Portugal. You can imagine all the work that awaits me now, with a house closed for so long. But I am looking forward to starting to work.
ust came here to say hello and send greetings from Spain.
