Gratitude Friday

Since I haven't done any painting lately, I thought I would post a couple of old paintings. Our computer hasn't been completely restored since the Great Blowup, so I don't have access to Photo Impact Pro to edit the pictures. I did both of these in a class with Charlotte Lang. They are quarter sheets of Arches 140 lb cold press. One is of some pots that we did from one of her sketches. We experimented with the efffect of salt. The other is Lake Mead. The assignment on that one was to use only 3 colors. The only color I can remember was scarlet lake. I had never used it before. Charlotte gave me some to try out. It's a great color. Charlotte is a wonderful friend. I wish I could see her more often. She lives in Mesquite, Nevada and usually spends the summer in Utah. We don't get up there very often. She and her husband don't like to fight the traffic here.

Now, getting back to Gratitude Friday, these are the things that I am thankful for today. First of all, Bombard Electric called yesterday and said, "We're ready to schedule the installation of your solar energy system. We can come out tomorrow morning at 6:30." Hooray!!!! As I type, there are brackets on my roof and an inverter in my art room. They should be finished with the installation in 3 days.

I'm also grateful that Jim and I feel so energized. We are going to paint and tile our guest bathroom this weekend. He has already started, so I have to make this short. Maybe we got fired up because things are finally going well with the solar. Whatever it is, I like it. I will post pictures of everything that has been happening around here. I wonder if I can talk him into reinstalling my Photo Impact Pro...

Gorgeous gorgeous paintings, Candy! I love them! I am just amazed at the innate talent so many of my artist blogging buddies have, you included. I work so hard to turn out my tripe; it seems to come so naturally to so many. Sigh... So glad those solar panels/system are getting installed! You live in the perfect place for that system! Hopefully you recoup the costs within a year or two!

Sherry, thank you! You are too hard on yourself. Your drawings and paintings are lovely. I really think you have a special talent in your use of color. The colors in your paintings glow.

I like your paintings... and the idea of just using three colors... I need to try that sometime (says she who usually succeeds in using almost every color she owns! :-(

Tracey, thank you. You're right, we've got a lot going on. It's crazy around here right now. I have today off because there was an in-service that I didn't have to go to. I'm just hanging out in case anything comes up with the electricians. They should finish tomorrow. I'm not sure how long it takes for the power company to set the meter, but this is wonderful!

Teresa, thank you. I like to use a lot of colors, too. I wouldn't have thought of this exercise on my own, but it was fun and challenging.

Lovely paintings Candy, it seems quite extraordinary that only 3 colours were used in the Lake Mead one.

Your paintings are beautiful!
Good luck with your bathroom! We, or I should say my husband, just finished tiling our master bath... still need to paint. It was a bigger job than we first anticipated, but we love it now.

Deb, thank goodness you commented. We got as far as painting, tearing out the old tile and cutting three pieces of tile. Then we said, "Yikes!" It's a small room, but there are so many special cuts to be made... We're going to work on it some more this weekend. Knowing your master bath story had a happy ending is encouraging:)
