Gratitude Friday - Sweet Memories

I'm very thankful for the sweet memories of people who were in my life in the past. I was thinking about my grandparents this morning. They were the best. They lived out in the country. Their house was on fifteen acres surrounded by small farms. There was a creek that ran through their property. One thing I remembered this morning was taking walks with my grandma and seeing lovely wild pink roses growing.

THank you you have once again stirred up beautiful memories of the summers I spent with my gran. She lived in a two dedroom house in a tenement block with an outside toilet but I loved every minute of it.

Such beautiful memories to have, Candy. I hope that one day my own grandchildren will have good memories of times spent with me. I am doubtful considering how my own kids feel about me, but still, I hope. Your grandparents' place reminds me of all my old 'wish I hads' when I was a kid. I always wished I came from a farm family or had grandparents who lived out in a big old country place. There is just something so innocent...

Yeesh...I guess you can see I am in an out of sorts frame of mind again this morning. Thank you for your kind comments and for making me laugh this morning (with the having to turn the drawing and trying to figure out what it was!).

Oh, Ralph, aren't grandparents wonderful? My great grandma lived down the dirt road from my grandparents. When we were kids, it seemed to be a long walk, but now I realize it's only about a half a mile. We'd walk down there during the day in the summer with my grandma while my grandpa was at work. My great grandma had an outhouse (outside toilet). She had a good size piece of property that was a working farm at one time. Everything was an adventure out in the country.

Sherry, your grandchildren are guaranteed to have great memories of time spent with you! My grandparents' house was small, but it was perfect for us to visit. Grandpa would fly kites with us and we'd have hayrides in a trailer behind his tractor. We'd go out to the country store on Sundays to pick up the paper. We'd go visit his dad who was a woodworker who lived about 10 miles away. We'd play with his dog, look at the wonderful animals and things he created from wood and have a lovely time.
