Gordon Lightfoot in Las Vegas - We Love Him

Jim and I went to the Gordon Lightfoot concert last night at Aliante Station. Aliante is a beautiful new hotel on the northern outskirts of town. The showroom was small and very intimate. We had perfect seats - fifth row exactly in the center. It felt like Gordon was making eye contact with us all night (even though he probably couldn't actually see much of the audience because of the lights shining on him and the band). He was perfect. He sang for almost two straight hours. He told one joke and one anecdote about Doug Kershaw and Jerry Jeff Walker. The rest was pure, beautiful music. His concerts are magical. We saw him for the first time last spring in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. If you haven't listened to his music in a while, pull up some of his videos on YouTube. You'll fall in love with him all over again. His old songs, his new songs - lovely, magical, ethereal. His band - fabulous musicians.

We grabbed a bite to eat after the concert. This was a big night for us. We didn't go to bed until after midnight. For us, that's late. We get up at 4:30 a.m. every morning. This morning, we got up at 5:30. (Thank you, cats and dogs, for not meowing and barking for your breakfast.)

I'm trying to work in some painting. Why is it so hard to squeeze into the schedule?

It sounds like you had an amazing evening! I love Gordon Lightfoot's music...it would be wonderful to see him in concert.

Thank you for your very nice comments on my blog!

It's nice when the animals let you sleep in...we have that problem around here, too. LOL!

I so love Gordon Lightfoot; there really is something almost mystical to his songs, his voice...Never was fortunate enough to see him in concert though, alas. It is hard to squeeze painting in, my dear, because you work, you have animals galore (as do I), you have a husband, some demolition work on the side, homework, animals, and so on and so on and so...

Deb and Sherry, it's nice to know you like Gordon Lightfoot, too. I saw an interview on YouTube and he seems as nice as he is talented.

Rosie is barking for her breakfast. She doesn't understand why the cats get their breakfast before she and Briscoe do. she also doesn't understand why her mom has to type when she's hungry. It's time for breakfast and a good walk.

Could your children call my children and explain the benefits of sleeping in to them?????

Gammies, Rosie will call Cora.

I'm not sure Rosie and Cora are the best ones to organize this...

How wonderful, I absolutely LOVE Gordon Lightfoot!! I've loved his music since I was a little girl, but have never seen him in concert.

Anne, I just stopped by your blog. We have a lot of things in common, besides our love for Gordon Lightfoot:) You have to go see him if he's still on tour.

I was at that concert also, and the one in Nanaimo. Too bad we didn't meet. I am going to Toronto for his Massey Hall concerts tomorrow. Nice to see another Lightfoot fan, and you wrote a wonder post about the concert.
