Randi, the smallest one is just starting to open. The one by the patio reaches the patio cover and looks like it's still growing. We love them.
Your dad and I are trying to figure out what your secret to a bumper crop of tomatoes is. Maybe we should be proud of ours, though. After all, our crop has increased by 50 percent over last year. It looks like we'll have 3 tomatoes this year:)

Candi, the patio and yard look wonderful! Maybe I should plant some sunflowers myself. They are always just so ready to welcome, aren't they?
My only secret to the tomato plant was that I bought one that had a lot of blooms on it lol.
Other than that, I have no idea what is going on. When I ever finally update my garden blog, you should see it....everything is out of control especially my cucumbers. I will have like 15 cucumbers and a bushel of tomatoes when all is said and done!

Some of the things I love about living in Wisconsin are the fours seasons, the 100 different shades of green in the summer and the many wonderful things you can grow here. I love the smells of summer, too! Before I left for work this morning I had to stop and sniff my lilacs - they are just starting to open up. I planted water lilies over the weekend and they are starting to grow. My lily of the valley are growing wild, too. Soon I will have peonies, nasturtium, columbine and pansies. The nearby nursery has some amazing begonias - their colors are neon bright, so I will probably buy some there. I can't wait for all the colors to brighten my yard. Now I just have to convince the deer and squirrels that the flowers are better to look at than to nible on. This weekend there was a small war between the squirrel and bluejays in my yard - fighting over peanuts...I can understand - I've fought over much less in my life time.

Grrrr - my lilacs are dying already. At least my lily of the valley are growing strong and the whole front yard smells like lily of the valley.

Gammies, your first post sounds heavenly. Your second post sounds like the result of your having Las Vegas weather and our having Wisconsin weather in May. What's up with that? Mmm... I love the smell of lily of the valley.

Shauna, we had a great time at lunch. Jim took some more cool sunflower photos today. We have three more that are just starting to open. They must be 8 or 9 feet tall!
