We took my mom out for lunch at Bob Taylor's Ranch House yesterday. The ranch house has been a favorite of locals for many years. It's 60 years old and it has the feel of old Las Vegas. We had a great time. The food was good and it was nice to relax and talk. We decided to go back for dinner soon.
I've used mostly Winsor and Newton paint until now. In the past, I've bought art supplies online at Daniel Smith, Dick Blick, Cheap Joe's and Jerry's Artarama. Daniel Smith has made some changes. It looks like they're going to focus on manufacturing paint and won't be carrying paper and other supplies like they have in the past. I've been playing with the dot cards that I mentioned in the previous post. I think this is a great way to figure out if you want to purchase a color. I'm not doing my book of colors exactly the way they show it in the video. I'm putting more colors on each sheet. My paper is 140 lb. cold press and I'm going to put the sheets in a 3-ring binder like they do in the video. Here's a photo of what I'm doing.
The number you use to order and codes indicating how lightfast the color is, if it's staining or non-staining, granulation and transparency are listed below each dot of color. I think this is a clever marketing tool. I've already found some colors I want to order:) Cool or what?

I like what you're doing better than the video person. This seems easier and more fun. Isn't seeing all the colors the coolest. Don't you want them all?

Hi, Carol! You're right. I tried one page the way it was done in the video and I figured it would take forever and use up a lot of paper. I just needed an idea of how the colors worked and looked. This way is fun and feels more like play. Yep, it's going to be hard to narrow down my list of colors.
