A Tree

This is a tree in our neighborhood. I'm not sure what kind it is. It must be a desert tree, but I don't think it's native to our desert. The next time we go to the nursery I'll look for one and get the name.

It's a 10-1/2" x 14-1/2" watercolor on Arches 140 lb. paper.

What a lovely, delicate rendering! I'm always in awe of people who use watercolours; you can't just cover up your mistakes, lol. Beautiful painting!

I was thinking that this looks so lovely and delicate, Candy, but Nicole beat me to the words. For some reason, it reminds me of spring - my second favorite season. Having been to your neck of the woods (for work, twice, not to play) before, I can imagine that this little delight looks a tad out of place? On the other hand, I do not know of any limits to the desert's ability to spawn beautiful life!

Thank you Nicole. I enjoyed reading your blog and I think your paintings are beautiful. Jim and I visited Canada last spring and we've fallen in love with your country. We were in the western part, but plan to check out other areas on future trips.

Sherry, thank you. I like your comment about not knowing limits to the desert's ability... I feel the same way. I'm always amazed to see plants growing in places where you'd swear there was very little to sustain life.

Cindi, I hope your trip was wonderful. Thank you for the compliment. I'll let you know what kind of tree this is as soon as we go to the nursery.

Hi Candy,
Like some of the people above I really like how delicate it is and am always in awe of artists who use watercolors. I also like your combination of green and lavender, one of my favorite combos.
