A Quick Note

I haven't done any painting because I'm trying to get back in the groove of school. I have wonderful students as usual, but I've been tired each day when I get home.

The only artsy thing I've done is Jim and I went to the Harvest Festival with a friend of ours. We'd never been to it before. It was a lot of fun. They had arts, crafts, food and entertainment. It was a very relaxed atmosphere. We bought two prints by Richard Curtner. He does collages. Check out his work on the Internet. It's beautiful and it's different.

A cool thing that happened is our Kindle arrived on Friday. I played with it yesterday. It is an amazing piece of technology. You can download about 3,600 books on it. You can download magazines and newspapers, too. A lot of books are free because the copyright has expired. Newer books are cheaper than the print editions. For me, it won't replace the library or bookstore, hardcover or paperback books, but it's a wonderful supplement. It's wireless, so you can download books at the airport, etc. It will fit in your purse. It's approximately 5"x7"x 1/4". As I discover all of its secrets, I'll share them with you. I'm in love. This was supposed to be shared with Jim, but I think he'll be getting his own one of these days:)

Hi Candy,
I have seen those Kindles...they seem really cool. I am still like you though, it would be a supplement for me too, there's just something about holding a book in your hands. Have a great week!

Hi Candy, I have heard about Kindles and I was about to get it as a gift, but I had doubts of my being able to read the fine print. Seems like a great toy for voracious readers.

Hi Candy - interesting that you blog about the "Kindle" tonight. I was just at my best friends for dinner tonight and his gift was the Kindle. His name is Luke and he has Duchenne Muscular Distrophy which limits him movement. To know that the Kindle will make it easier for him to read is incredible.

Keep reading readers..........cheers, Alex

Kindles are such an amazing idea! I would love something like that ... especially when you go on a trip and don't want to take your travel books and other reading material. ... all in one-love it!
Even when I go to see my family for the weekend ... I always have a huge heavy book bag!

Congrats on your purchase!

Good night! It's been so long since I wrote that I owe all of you guys responses. I've been a bad blogger since school has been back in session.

Hi, Tracey! As much as I love the Kindle, I love the feel and scent of real books. I'm so glad you're blogging again!

Padmaja, you can change the size of the font. I haven't tried it yet, but the instructions say it can be done. This is going to be great for traveling.

Alex, it is so cool that someone got Luke a Kindle.

Pat, I will keep you posted.

Jim, when do you want to get your Kindle?

Sandy, this is especially good for people who love to read and travel.
