Fortune Cookies

We had Chinese food for lunch today.  Jim doesn't like fortune cookies, so I got the cookies.  There were three.  My first fortune was, "If you can shape it in your mind, you will find it in your life."  Obviously, the fortune writer never saw that last floral.  However, I'm taking it to mean that the cat will turn out the way I want.  I'm doing a couple of drawings before I paint her.  My next fortune was, "You have a deep appreciation of the arts and music."  Hmm... I like it!  The last one was, "Time is the wisest counselor."  Okay.  Time to get back to work on that drawing.

Yikes!

The floral was a flop, but I do like working on the hot press paper.  Here are pieces of the floral.  I never got the leaves down and the flowers aren't my best, but it was kind of fun.  I couldn't bring myself to post the entire painting:)  Off to paint a cat and if that doesn't work out, I have two that I can pet.

Hmmm...

I thought I would finish the floral today.  Maybe I AM finished with it:).  I didn't like the way the leaves were turning out, so (I think I've told you before that I'm the Scrub Out Queen.) I started scrubbing them out.  Lifting them out may sound better, but I'm a scrubber.  I think I'll play with it a little more.  I want to finish the flowers themselves and take one more try at the leaves.  No pictures yet:)

How is your Friday going?

I feel like posting a picture, so here is my mom with her friend Billy and his pretty girl Sniffles.  Isn't she a doll?

Florals - Don't You Love Them?

I hope you're having a fabulous Monday!  I've started a floral and I'm waiting for a layer to dry.  I don't like to use a blow dryer to dry my paintings.  I've taken classes where, in the interest of moving things right along, we used blow dryers.  I think it's a good thing to do in a class, but when I'm painting on my own, I don't.  I don't like the noise and sometimes it changes the painting.  So here I am writing to you and petting one of my furry children.
This is Chip.  He's not allowed to perch on the dining room table, but he's a cat, so he doesn't care.
Besides, right now, he's standing on his hind legs purring in my ear.  How could I get mad?

Red Rock Canyon

I'm going to try this one again, but here is one version.

It's watercolor (of course!) on 15" x 22" 140 lb Arches cold press.

Happy Sunday!
