Trees in the Mist

I worked on a David Smith demo today.  This is my first attempt.  I'm going to try again tomorrow.  There are some changes I'll make.  The yellow, red and blue part of the sky needs to be bigger and not quite so circular.  I need to work on the colors and shapes of the trees and extend the middle trees up more on the right side.  There is too much space between the top of the yellow mountain and the trees.  I'm going to bring in more purple in the distant mountains.  I do think I got the misty effect.  That makes me happy.  I have no pride, so I'm posting the picture because I'm really excited and I know you guys will have mercy on me and won't judge David's teaching skills by my painting:)  This is on a 1/4 sheet of Arches cold press.

Playing With The Sky!

I decided to have some fun with the sky, so I painted this small painting the other day.

Free Online Demonstrations!

David R. Smith is offering several free online demos.  I like his work.  I took an online workshop from him last December.  He's a good teacher and he's a lot of fun.  He's offering more online workshops this summer and more free demos today, May7th and May 11th.  Here's the link for today's demo.

I watched his demo yesterday and enjoyed it.  Jim watched it with me.  He liked it, too.  He was a little distracted because his job was to keep Georgie entertained while we watched the demo.  We all had fun!

Mystery Plant

I don't know what this is, but I really like it.  I spotted it in a neighbor's yard when we were walking Georgie this morning.  It has balls of fluff and tiny, bright white flowers.
