Tulips - A Work In Progress

I'm working on this painting today.  It's 11" x 14" watercolor  on 140 lb Fabriano  cold press paper.  I've played with this paper before, but this is the first time I've used it for a painting.

Jim's daughter asked family members and friends to paint something for a wall in her new house in Seattle.  She sent out 6" x 6" canvasses to everyone who said they would do it.  I finished mine the other day.  Jim is working on his.  I painted mine in acrylic.

It was fun to do!

One More Thing

We started watching this series on the Impressionists.  I think it's really good.  So far we've watched 2 episodes.  It's on Amazon Prime.  It's called The Impressionists Season 1.  It's hosted by

The Latest Assignment

We started a drawing class on Sunday afternoons while we were still taking our night class.  We have today off for the Memorial Day holiday, so we're working on our homework assignment for next Sunday.  The assignment is self-portraits - profile, 3/4 or full face.  I'm working on the 3/4 and IT'S REALLY HARD!  I say that a lot:)  Anyhow, in spite of measuring like crazy, mine looks awful.  Jim looked at it and said, "It looks like you.  And I mean that in a good way."  That totally cracked me up, so I decided to take a short break and complain to you guys.  Back to work.  I hope you're having a beautiful Sunday!

The Dreaded Upturn!

I had fun drawing this guy.  I tell you your brain cannot believe that you're going to put the tip of the nose practically between the person's eyes!  An upturned face could easily make you run screaming from the room!  And yet...it's fun in a weird way:)

Our last drawing  class is Monday.  Our final project was to do a drawing from a film still and write about its significance.  This is my final.  It's from my favorite movie.  I believe it's the best movie ever made.  My drawing is charcoal on 20" x 24" Rives BFK.
