Herb Alpert and Lani Hall in Concert!

Saturday night, Jim and I went to see Herb Alpert and Lani Hall at The Smith Center in the Cabaret Jazz Room.  The show was wonderful.  They had a bass player, pianist and drummer appearing with them.  All of the musicians were excellent.  You could tell they love working together and they were having a good time.  Herb Alpert can still play and Lani Hall still has a great voice.  During the show, there was a screen behind them on which photos of Herb's paintings and sculptures were shown along with some old and new videos.  I love his paintings and I like his sculptures, too.  This show touched my heart.  Lani and Herb have been married for 45 years.  You can see how much they love each other in the way they look at each other.  In addition to being a gifted musician and artist, I think Herb Alpert is a very kind man.  He told a few stories and was an absolute delight.  One thing he said at the end of the show was, "I hope you remember the songs we played tonight - no, you probably won't remember the songs, but remember the feeling."  I believe I will always remember the feeling.Check out his art and let me know what you think.  I read that he says his paintings are jazz.  I agree.
