Although the hotels are closed and restaurants are open only for takeout or delivery, we are free to walk around our beautiful city while maintaining a social distance of 6 feet. Here are some photographs from recent walks Georgie, Jim and I have taken around our neighborhood and a few photos from a walk that Jim and I took down The Strip. The gorgeous cactus is in a neighbor's yard. I don't know its name, but it is so beautiful that when I first saw it from a distance, I didn't think it was real. It's about 3-1/2 feet tall.

Hard to imagine Las Vegas being that quiet, Candy. Must seem surreal... Bet Georgie is okay with it, though:) And yes, your neighbor's cactus is incredible. I'd be pulling my camera out for that one, too!
Candy such gorgeous photos of Vegas. Many years ago hubby and I visited your city. I cannot imagine the quiet because when we were there it was certainly booming no matter the hour. Thank you for sharing your part of the world. That cactus was outstanding...Loved it. Hugs!

Hi, Chris! It is really weird. It's so quiet. The traffic is starting up a little more each day in anticipation of the governor easing the restrictions. Some of the hotels have announced they may reopen in the middle of May. You're right, Georgie loves it.
Debbie, I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures. We usually have to drive out into the desert to experience the quiet. This is really strange, but it's gradually getting back to normal. Hugs to you!
Beautiful. What's bizarre is that years ago, when all of this was new I was asked
to write copy for an airline radio program, and wrote interviews about cities.
I wasn't one of the speakers. But Las Vegas was one of the cities I wrote
about. And I had never been there, and still haven't. So this is doubly cool.

I'm glad you enjoyed the photos, Barbara. It's funny that you got to write about it, but hadn't been here. After things get back to normal, you and your husband should make the trip. I think you would enjoy it. It'll work out because our most uncomfortable weather is during the months that are the most beautiful in Canada. Summer is not the best time to visit Las Vegas:) It's fun to visit the hotels and casinos, but be sure to spend time hiking in the desert. Red Rock Canyon and Valley of Fire are gorgeous.
