We had a break between summer sessions and we flew up to Wisconsin for my dad's 75th birthday party. My stepmother had the party at their cabin on Lake St. Croix. We were there for a long weekend. The weather was gorgeous. We got to visit with both of my sisters, and my dad's three sisters and about 45 other people. My stepmother has 6 children so it makes for a big gathering with children's spouses and the grandchildren. We ate like little piggies. Dad took us for a pontoon boat ride. It was a blast.
Jim's daughter Randi took care of our furry children, the garden and the house while we were gone. Good job, Randi! Thank you!
We're back home in the desert. This is the painting that I talked about in the previous post. I was playing with colors. I know it's not my best painting, but I like the colors if I do say so myself:)

Hi Candy, went through all of your works and enjoyed looking at them! I loved the city scape you have done with the yellow taxis best. Here, I liked the hues you created with the different blue glazes and the simple brush strokes. Very nice work:-)
Gosh, Candy! I think this is one gorgeous landscape, truly. The colors are fresh and true and the composition itself is stunning. I think it is one of my favorite Candyland paintings!! Beautiful! Hope your dad (and his wife) are doing well! Sounds like a fun little mini-vacation!
Padmaja, thank you for the kind words!
Sherry, thank you! My dad (and his wife) are doing great. I'm going to look through our trip photos to find one to post for you:)
I am so glad that you guys had fun!!! And I am even gladder that the dogs waited until after you got home again to eat the tomatoes :)
Yay! I always check daily for new posts, so I'm looking forward to it, Candy!
I love the colors! I love to see artwork where the colors in the painting do a better job of creating the mood than the real-life colors would have. The soft blue and yellow are gorgeous together. I would love this painting in my home! It's so peaceful.
This is a beautiful scene. I love the feeling of heat in this painting xx
Pat, thank you! For the next three months, "heat" is the magic word around here:)
I noticed you left out the story about how we almost sank Dad's pontoon boat...
It's belated, but Happy Birthday to your Dad (your Dad is now the same age as my Dad!).
And... I like your painting too.
Thank you, Teresa. I'll pass the message along to my dad. Isn't it strange to think our dads are 75? Time goes by so quickly. 75 sounds older than it really is. My dad doesn't seem that different from his younger days except he has more time to spend with family and more patience. He's definitely not as strict with grandchildren as he was with his daughters:)
I'm headed over to see how your vacation was.
