Our granddaughter spent Sunday and Monday with us. We went to see Ramona and Beezus (thumbs up), we went bowling (the rails for little kids are super), we went to Bonnie Springs Ranch (she liked it as much as her great grandmother did when we took her there last spring) and we topped off the visit by doing a little painting. What do you think? She's eight years old. She did this all by herself. I just kept her company while she painted.

I think Jade did an awesome job. What a talented sweet little girl....reminds me a lot of myself at that age...
Sounds like a wonderful time - and great painting by Jade!
Gammies, your portrait of Don Holton is amazing. Just think, he kept it for all those years... We'll see if Jade gets into doing stick figure portraits:)
Pat, we had a blast.
Thank you both, I'll show Jade your comments next time she comes over.
She's just like her Grammpa!
Jade did a lovely job Candy, I love the purity and the kind of abstractness that is so predominant in a child's art!
Jade's colors are just beautiful!! What a fun visit; methinks I want to be YOUR granddaughter!
Thank you Padmaja and Sherry. Jade will be thrilled to read your comments.
You would make a great granddaughter, Sherry! We are determined to be the grandparents who do things. Jim and I talked about it - no TV except for an occasional grandparent-approved movie. The rest of the time will be spent on outdoor activities (when the temperature is below 100), reading, painting, baking, etc.
What a wonderful weekend with your granddaughter! She takes after you...very talented! She created a beautiful painting!!!
She did a great job! I love to see a child introduced to, and making, art. I think it adds a richness and creative satisfaction to their lives.
Keep painting, Jade!
wonderful painting jade ...i love painting with my children ..you look very young grandparents candy .
Thank you, Jane! Jade was studying a picture of us which was taken about 10 years ago. She very seriously asked, "Was this when you were young?" Yikes! I guess youth, like beauty, is in the eyes of the beholder:)
By the way, I sure love your lovely, loose watercolors!
